Welcome
Hi, I'm Yves Leterme, a professional calligrapher and lettering artist, based near the fair city of Bruges, Belgium.
"Letters act as practical and useful signs, but also as pure form and inner melody," Kandinsky once mused and I couldn't agree more.
Ironically, as the handwritten word threatens to disappear, we find ourselves all the more enraptured by graceful, expressive and skillful handwriting.
I've set myself to help preserve the revered tradition of artful lettering and illustrate its relevance, even in this digital age.
This may sound like a lofty goal, but it's actually quite a gratifying and relaxing thing to do.

July 2022 - After the Summer Holidays I have one last online class scheduled. It's the one on built-up capitals, which will run for the third (and last) time, more precisely from September 12 til October 24, 2022.
I was very pleased to see hundreds of students all over the world participating in this popular class at previous editions. If you want to join us on this last round, here's your chance. More info. After four years of intensive online teaching, I want to take a break from it, but I welcome again invitations for live classes. So, if you fancy the idea of having me teach for your guild or association in the year to come, please contact me and let's talk. In September 2024, I'll open a pop-up store in the centre of Bruges for the entire month, in which I'll show and sell original works as well as lots of prints. Sooner or later, everyone has to visit Bruges, so why not plan your visit then? If you like to receive regular updates on what I'm working on and/or see pictures of my recent (and not so recent) work, I welcome you to follow me on Instagram or Facebook. Apart from that, I occasionally send out a Newsletter, announcing my classes, performances and other projects. Please consider subscribing to it if you'd like to stay informed. |
